CT-114 Tutor Jet
When you watch the Snowbirds Soar above the Roar of Niagara Falls, you will recognize the distinctive Red, White and Blue Jets as they fly in formation. These iconic jets are the Canadair CT-114 Tutor Jets.
The Snowbird Tutor Jet is a 2 seat (side by side) trainer Jet with a single Jet engine. These Jets were first designed and built back in the early 1960′s, and they are ideal for their current role as aerobatic aircraft used in formation flying performances by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.
Smoke On
The Snowbirds Jets are equipped with “Smoke”, and they stream smoke trails from the tail of the Jet. The smoke is generated by spraying pressurized diesel fuel directly into the hot exhaust of the jet engine. When the 9 Snowbirds are flying in formation, it is an awesome sight to see the nine Jets with their parallel smoke lines trailing across the sky.

The editors of Niagara.ca enjoyed a wonderful day in Niagara-on-the-Lake. And, the highlight of our trip to NOTL was the Jet Boat Niagara Adventure!
Our 7pm departure on this hour long adventure began at the docks at the bottom of Melville Street in NOTL. There were four in our group, and only one person had the foresight to bring a change of clothes.
WET! WET! WET!
Life Preservers, Sweaters, Rain Coats (with Hoods), and even Shoe ‘Booties’ are all provided at no charge. But, even with all this gear, everyone on the Jet Boat gets absolutely drenched! There are no exceptions. Before departure, you pick where you want to sit. The front ‘Power Rows’ are the bumpiest, and the seats on the sides are supposed to be the ‘wettest’, but it doesn’t matter where you sit. You are guaranteed to get wet!
Captain John!
Our skilled pilot was Captain John. He knew where to navigate the Jet Boat to ensure maximum waves and extreme fun. Jet-boating the Niagara River is an incredible experience, and the rapids are fantastic. Everyone loved the ‘Hamilton 360′ Turns (named after the manufacturer of the Hamilton Jet Engines), and the ‘White Water Rapids’.
An Avalanche of Water!
It was a surprise to feel how warm the water is, when it ‘slaps’ you in the face. As you experience rapids and waves such as ‘Flash Flood’ and ‘Big Kahuna’, be prepared for an avalanche of water to come over the side of the Jet Boat, and soak everyone on-board!
Hold Your Breath!
When the water hits, be sure to hold your breath! Hundreds of gallons of water come crashing down on you, and an open mouth, or poorly timed ‘inhale’ will give you the full sensation of the power and magnitude of the roaring waves.

Queen Victoria Park (QVP)
A crowd of 40,000 is expected to gather at Queen Victoria Park, overlooking the Falls. It’s the greatest place to celebrate New Year’s Eve and welcome in the New Year. This outdoor celebration will include a free concert and two fireworks displays over the falls.
Please do not bring any alcohol to the park. For your convenience, a designated “Beer Garden” will provide an outdoor licensed area. There will also be onsite concession stands with food and beverage vendors. And, remember to dress appropriately for this outdoor event.

The New Year’s Eve Celebrations include two spectacular fireworks displays over the Falls. Fireworks are planned for 8:45 p.m. and again at midnight just as 2012 rings in!

Winter Festival Of Lights (WFOL)
The CAA Winter Festival of Lights has become part of a Winter Tradition in Niagara Falls, Canada. WFOL helps to sponsor, promote and plan Winter events in Niagara Canada, including the New Year’s Eve Concert Extravaganza.
Donations Appreciated
Many, great, Niagara Canada, WFOL events are provided free to the public, but donations are truly appreciated. Please look for the large Donation Barrels that will be located within Queen Victoria Park. Your donations go to a great cause, and they will help WFOL to continue bringing you great Niagara events!
